- Skip to content Bloomberg Our Company Events Search Jobs Login Senior Software Engineer - Real-time Data Location New York Business Area Engineering and CTO Ref # 10051647 Description & Requirements Bloomberg’s Real-time Data group is responsible for distributing low-latency, high-volume data (financial, news, sentiment) to users around the world. From equity prices to FX rates, our infrastructure handles hundreds of billions of messages per day from 370+ global exchanges. It provides data to Terminal users as well as enterprise consumers of data from BPIPEs across on-prem and cloud environments. The many teams of Real-time Data are responsible for both the generation of the data and the management of the infrastructure that carries this data to our customers. Given the scale, speed, and business critical nature of our product, we’re constantly focused on scalability, reliability and performance. Who are you? - Design and build services and APIs with in-house and open source technologies Become an expert in distributed architecture and leverage it to drive the design of our infrastructure for multiple product teams
- Collaborate closely with a variety of groups within Bloomberg, including Engineering, Product, Security and CTO, to drive solutions to completion You'll need to have 4+ years working with an object-oriented programming language (such as C/C++, Java, Python) A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience A background in building reliable, well-tested software for production systems Confidence diagnosing and resolving live operational issues
- Strong communication skills — able to work across teams and influence peers. Comfort and confidence in collaborating with peers, partners and management A track record of helping teams plan, prioritize, and deliver complex technical projects An understanding of fundamental concepts like compute, storage, file system etc. An effective approach to problem-solving Systems and APIs design skills We'd love to see
- Experience with observability tools like Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
- Experience with Linux environment and system administration Open-source contributions or participation in technical communities Salary Range = 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
