About the role
- This position provides administrative support to the Special Project Group Construction team. SPG requires permitting, layout creation and other administrative needs in Van Nest. The successful candidate will interact frequently with internal and external customers, including the NY State Department of Transportation (DOT), and potentially other agencies. Core Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to, logging and tracking information on various computer applications, preparing contractor work packages, assisting with NYC Department of Transportation issued Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and Notice of Violations (NOV), ordering street opening permits, preparing various status reports, material procurement and basic filing. Decipher basic information provided on construction drawings issued from various Engineering organizations.
- Communicate timely with internal and external customers to clarify work scope, resolve inquiries, and ensure compliance with project requirements. Utilize Company computer applications Maximo (CWORX), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Adept, Summons Workspace, Electronic Packaging System (EPS), NYC Streets, and Electric
- Work Management System. (Duties include but are not limited to logging and tracking information on various computer applications and preparing work packages that will be sent to contractors) Sit/stand at a stationary post for long periods and travel to various work locations as needed. Due to typing requirements, the candidate must have excellent manual dexterity. The candidate must be detail oriented, neat, and effective at meeting deadlines. Must comply with the companys safety, health, and environmental programs. Required Education/Experience High School Diploma/GED and One year of work experience Skills and Abilities Ability to interpret basic information on drawings. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents Demonstrated customer service skills Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills Licenses and Certifications Driver's License Required Physical Demands Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and kneel throughout the workday Ability to read small print and symbols Additional Physical Demands The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
