Within NYP’s Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, our pediatric physical therapists make a lasting impact every day; helping children with diverse developmental and medical needs build strength, function, and independence in a supportive setting.
This role focuses on evaluating and treating children with a range of developmental, orthopedic, neurologic, and medically complex conditions, with an emphasis on delivering family-centered, evidence-based care. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital environment to optimize functional outcomes for patients and their families.
All therapists are expected to meet departmental operational needs, including assignments across clinical areas and participation in varied scheduling models. This includes subsequent placements within both adult and pediatric units in the inpatient and outpatient settings as assigned, as well as participation in alternative schedules such as evening shifts and/or consistent weekend coverage.
What You’ll Do
Plan, organize, and implement specific treatment programs for patients across a variety of age groups. Develop and implement individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans to improve development, mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence. Collaborate closely with physicians, occupational therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. Utilize evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning to guide intervention strategies and monitor patient progress. Maintain a supportive, engaging environment that promotes motivation and developmental progress patients.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy (Master’s or Doctorate preferred). New York State Physical Therapy license. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Strong clinical reasoning and differential diagnosis skills. Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to function competently in a dynamic environment with changing patient needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric physical therapy experience (outpatient and/or inpatient), including birth to 3 populations. Orthopedic experience. Neurological Medicine
- Experience. Cardiopulmonary
- Experience. Torticollis/Plagiocephaly
- Experience. American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Board Certification in Pediatrics. 2 years of clinical experience.
